Guest Housing - Reservation Information and Request Form

 

When rooms are available and not in use by Caltech graduate students, the Housing Office offers short-term guest housing accommodations to Caltech-affiliated visitors. Guest housing is usually primarily between November and July. There is only limited space in guest housing during August, September and October.

****IMPORTANT UPDATE****
UID Requirements
Our database system is tightly integrated with Oracle (Caltech’s database management system). For security/emergency purposes, ALL visitors (even short-term) must have a UID number before they can be confirmed for housing. If you will be considered a Special Graduate student, the Registrar’s Office should be able to provide you with your UID number. If you will NOT have Special Graduate student status, please be sure to contact the department/division you are visiting and have them submit the appropriate paperwork to Human Resources on your behalf. In most cases, the division/department will have to submit a “Guest Data Sheet” to Human Resources in order for you to be issued a UID number. Our office will not be able to provide accommodations to those that have not been issued a UID number.

Required Minimum/Maximum Stay
We require a 14 day minimum stay for all guest housing requests. The maximum length of a stay is one year.

Studio Apartments
Located two blocks north of campus, these furnished apartments offer accommodations for single individuals. Kitchens are furnished with a stove, microwave and refrigerator.

Off-Campus Houses
Located within two blocks of campus, these accommodations offered for single individuals include private furnished rooms in three-bedroom to five-bedroom houses with a shared living room, bathrooms, and kitchen. Kitchens are furnished with a stove, microwave, and refrigerator.

Catalina Graduate Apartments
Located on the west side of the campus, these accommodations offered for single individuals include private furnished rooms in two or four-bedroom apartments with a shared living room, bathroom(s), and kitchen. When available, couples (not to exceed two people) may reserve a one-bedroom apartment. Kitchens are furnished with stove, microwave and refrigerator.

Rate Information
Daily rates are effective for guests staying less than one month. Monthly rates are effective for guests staying one month or longer. Guest rates include utilities and an internet connection. However, television arrangements are the responsibility of the guest. Linens, kitchen utensils and tableware are not included.

Smoking Policy
It is Housing Office policy that smoking of tobacco products in any Institute housing property is prohibited. In Institute residences, this includes all interior common areas, individual rooms and apartments, covered walkways, balconies, outdoor areas where smoke may drift into buildings, and during organized indoor and outdoor events.

Cancellation Fee
All cancellations or date changes must be received in writing no later than 14 days prior to arrival/check-in. Cancellations made within 14 days of scheduled arrival will incur a $50.00 cancellation fee. Cancellations or date changes made on day of arrival or after will incur a $100.00 cancellation fee plus a prorated housing charge for any occupancy days.

We require a 14 day minimum stay for all guest housing requests. Stays of 14 days to one month are charged at the daily rate listed below. Stays of one month or more are charged at the monthly rate listed below.
