FACULTY – POSTDOC – UNFURNISHED TEMPORARY HOUSING
Rules and Regulations
MC 160-86 (626) 395-6176 Fax (626) 584-7161
Thank you for your interest in Caltech’s unfurnished housing.
We will do our best to try to accommodate your request. We currently offer
month-to-month Rental Agreements for a term not to exceed 12 months. There is
currently a wait of up to one year for our housing. Our current tenants are only
required to give us 15 days notice before vacating, so it is impossible for us
to speculate about future vacancies. With over 500 postdocs on campus, plus
faculty, and only about 70 apartment units, we cannot guarantee
placement. You should be aware of the following Rules and Regulations that apply
to our tenants:
1. At least one household member must be affiliated with
Caltech. 2. A maximum of two (2) people are allowed in a 1-bedroom apartment. A maximum
of four (4) people are allowed in a 2-bedroom apartment. 3.
Pets are not permitted. 4. Priority is based on the date of your application and the date you are able
to move in (start paying rent). We will not be able to give you 30 days notice
about available units. 5. Applicants will not have a choice of buildings or units, unless more than one
is available. In order to house people more quickly, everyone on the wait list
will be offered simultaneously and have approximately three business days to
respond to the initial offer. If you would like your name to be removed from the
waiting list, please notify us immediately. 6. You will be notified about possible opportunities by email; please respond by
the deadline stated in the email, or your application will be removed from our
list. If you contact us to express interest in the unit, but it is awarded to an
applicant ahead of you, or if you decline the unit, you will be given another
opportunity at our next availability.
7. Caltech pays for gas, electric, water and trash services. Tenants will be billed back for their usage of gas and electricity (Green Power). Tenants are responsible for
setting up and paying for telephone, cable and internet
services through any local provider directly.
8. One off-street parking space is offered per apartment. Overnight street
parking permits for
additional vehicles may be obtained through the City of Pasadena, which
charge fees for such
permits.
9. Roommates are only allowed under special circumstances, with prior written
authorization
from the Housing Office. 10. Any visitor staying longer
than three (3) days must check in with the
Building Manager.
Please notify us of any change in your personal information (name, phone, email)
so that we may
contact you when an apartment becomes available. These policies are subject to
change without
notice. |
